MANILA – Senator Emmanuel Manny Pacquiao would be a sure topnotcher in the May 9, 2022 senatorial race in case he decides to seek reelection instead of running for president or vice president.
Pacquiao, who got 54% in the survey, ends his first six-year term as senator on June 30, 2022 and is qualified to seek a second term for another six years in the Philippine Senate.
This loomed in the latest Pulse Asia survey which indicated that Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso (53.7%) would also top the senatorial race with Pacquiao.
The nationwide survey, which was conducted from June 7-16, 2021 with 2,400 respondents interviewed face to face, also revealed that broadcaster Raffy Tulfo and actor-television host Willie Revillame could make it to the top 12 in the senatorial race.
Third placer in the survey is Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte (47.7 percent), followed by Raffy Tulfo (46.4 percent), Taguig City-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano (46 percent), and Sorsogon Gov. Francis Escudero (45.6 percent).
Yes, Maria Clara. All indications are actor-singer-composer-businessman Willie Revillame is running for senator in the May 9, 2022 elections.
The speculation was bolstered when a Pulse Asia survey showed that Willie is among the possible 12 winners in the Senate race. Another television personality, Raffy Tulfo, is also in the list of winnable senatoriables.
Both Tulfo and Revillame would join the administration slate as President Rodrigo Duterte has been courting them and the President has made public that the two would be assets to their slate.
This early, Willie, 60, is hinting that he will make the final decision in August, a month before the deadline of the filing of certificate of candidacy.
He also hinted he willl be passing on his role as TV host of “Wowowin-Tutok To Win.”
On a recent episode, Willie talked about the “big decision” he is set to make “at the right time.”
“Sa tamang panahon sasabihin ko ho ‘yung magiging desisyon ko, at sasabihin ko dito sa programang ito,” he said without giving any details.
“Mawala man ako, gusto ko meron pa ring isang host na makakausap niyo. Kung sakali hong ang maging desisyon ko sa buhay ko ay mabigat, ipagdadasal ko itong mabuti, pag-iisipan ko itong mabuti,” he said.
He said he wishes that the show will go on and on.
“Dahil ang ganitong programa hindi dapat nawawala. Itong programang ito dapat ho ay laging nandiyan, mawala man ako sa mundo, sana meron pa ring Wowowin,” Willie said.
Another indication that Willie will run for senator is his statement that “Hindi ako kenkoy sa Senado.”
“Sa August mayroon akong malaking announcement sa inyong lahat,” saad niya. “Ito po desisyon sa buhay para sa akin ito at para sa ating lahat. Sana po ay maintindihan niyo,” he said in a Youtube video.
He assured that he will not be a “kenkoy” and he will not rob the government of funds.
